ZINNIA
Zinnia is a feral, cursed child, cursed by the old gods for lacking a tribute she didn't know about. As a result, she is half-monster, bearing ears and tail and fur and claws. She is feral, raised by monsters in the wild, able to use their techniques to survive. The one person who showed her kindness, the one person who saw her as a human, is now the only one in the world who matters to her, and she will follow that girl to the ends of the earth.
Zinnia is:
- A half-monster. Her sclera are black, her eyes are red, her hair is black and turns red at the tips. She has animal ears, a tail, and when agitated, gains more monstrous traits, usually her right arm becoming a beast's, long and large enough to drag on the ground, with wicked, sharp claws. She can also shapeshift out other monstrous traits, but it is borderline-uncontrollable.
- Cursed by old gods. In addition to her monstrous appearance, she is also prone to berserker fits, and brings misfortune to those around her, as though her mere presence invites bad luck.
- Loyal. Her chief trait, her greatest strength, is her infallible, absolute loyalty to those who have given her kindness.
- Feral. She doesn't understand most human social structures. She's trying her best, but she still has a way of thinking close to monsters, that anything should be done to survive, and that hunting and killing are a necessary way to live. That said, she will also never allow killing or harming others that isn't done to survive.
- Human. No matter her body, her heart is human.
Zinnia is not:
- Cruel. She is feral, but not cruel. She accepts killing, even other humans, if it must be done to live. But killing without purpose is something she will not accept. She can be prickly, especially to people she doesn't know, but she will never hurt others willingly, though her berserker fits can sometimes cause problems.
- Stupid. She has trouble with understanding human norms, true, but she is still sharp. She learns quickly.
- A monster. Judge her at your own risk.
Prompts:
Assumed CR, AUs, setting transplants, suddenly you're in a jamjar, anything goes. You can make up your own! Otherwise...
You may run into her into a town, where a woman covered by a cloak is walking. And if you accidentally bump into her... Well, you can see her freaky eyes, big animal ears, and what is definitely blood around her mouth. Maybe you should do something?

Zinnia's just going to walk up, and throw Mage over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes.]
no subject
Help. Help. I'm being kidnapped.
no subject
[JUST GONNA WALK OUT THE DOOR WITH MAGE
... without stopping to, you know, put anything mage has grabbed back or pay for it, so...]
no subject
Do you remember that talk we had earlier?
no subject
[she's not slowing down, but she's apparently listening]
no subject
Ah, but anyway. We might be in trouble.
no subject
Trouble?
no subject
[It's a pretty name. They don't dislike it or anything.]
Yes. [And they watch as a pair of guards start making their way towards the two.] With them.
no subject
[She looks over...]
What should we do?
no subject
[Mage hums a little.]
We could just calmly explain the situation, but they might not want to listen. Mhm. Maybe we should just run?
no subject
[She uses her free hand to tug down her hood.]
What... do they want?
no subject
no subject
[she growls.]
... If they wish to put me in jail. I will not allow it.
[That's... the feeling, under Mage, where they're being carried over Zinnia's shoulder, of Zinnia's flesh rippling, twisting, growing... Preparing to unleash a claw.]
no subject
[There's silence, for a bit. And then...]
Put me down. I'll handle it.
no subject
okay, she's gonna let them down.]
... If we fight, I will help. But if there is no fight, I will not be able to help.
no subject
Feel free to head back to the others if you want. Or however else you want to spend your time. Your choice.
[And they step away from Zinnia, moving towards the guards. Perfectly pleasant smile on their face and everything.]
Gentlemen. Why don't we take this conversation somewhere private?
[Somehow, they actually manage to get the guards to agree and they walk off. Ah. Zinnia might just... have to wait for a bit.]
no subject
she's just gonna
wait? she can't go off on her own. she can't go back to aster and the others without having completed her task. and she definitely can't ditch mage.
so she's just gonna.
wait there for mage. forever. like fry's dog.]
no subject
As they reach her, they're smiling.
That's good, right? That's definitely a good sign. Maybe just don't worry about the smile feeling off.]
Ah... Did you wait here the whole time? [They chuckle slightly.] Didn't that get boring?
no subject
[More accurately, she lives in the wild. She hunts. She's used to waiting, still, patiently, for as long as it takes for her prey to be open.
Her patience is almost endless, when it comes to just waiting.]
no subject
[Mage can be patient when they want to be, but these days, they rarely ever want to be. They have better things to do.]
Well, either way... I think we're about done, hm? Should we head back?
no subject
[She's staring at them... what's in there.]
no subject
[They hold up the bags a little.]
Isn't it nice? Those guards helped me get everything I needed... They just needed a little gentle persuasion and they were happy to help.
no subject
[Leans forward.]
