[Princess Alice is, well. Something of a weird case, in no one is quite sure how to handle her, including- and especially- herself. She was born as the prince Lucifer, and displayed magical powers so far beyond anyone else's understanding that they could only be called miracles, but even so, before long, she requested to be called a girl, and had chosen the name 'Alice'. (Or, more accurately, she had mumbled the name in surprise when someone asked and she bit her tongue halfway through 'uh, luci'.
This would normally be a scandal in and of itself, but somehow, it was met with mostly a shrug of 'i guess' from the people around her. Alice was born from a political marriage, to end the wars of the human and demon worlds, and she could never quite manage to fit in well among either side. When you combined that, her general awkwardness, her vast, miraculous magical powers, and her general anxiousness in talking to people, no one could quite figure out how to handle her.
Except, of course, there were still the ones who wanted her dead. Of course there were- Her presence ended the war, and there were zealots on both sides who wanted that war to continue until one side was wiped out. And still others had decided that her vast powers meant she was a harbinger of the end times, and so to save the world, she had to go. And if Alice had to defend herself, things got dangerous with how powerful her magic was. So, finally, the kingdom decided to assign her a personal guard, a knight dedicated to keeping her safe.
And that is how Aqua finds herself before the princess, a crazy tall girl in a dress, and judging from her expression and general body language, you'd think Aqua was the one who was giant and had apocalyptic levels of magic.]

When she had been ordered to protect the Princess, she hadn't hesitated to respond that it was an honor to do so. In a sense, she'd be separated from the friends she had first made upon taking up the sword, but... She didn't exactly have a choice but to follow orders.
When she first meets Alice, she can't help but pause. This wasn't her first time seeing her - Aqua had seen her from a distance and in various paintings, but.. this was the first time that she's been able to see her so close.
Aqua can be seen bowing then - not wanting to be rude nor displease her. ]

... I've heard that me being here is more precautionary than anything else. [ Though, it really wouldn't make sense to leave royalty unguarded, period. ]

I have not wished to cause trouble for anyone... But I do have a duty to this country. So of late, I have been making more frequent trips to libraries to learn whatever I may that could be of use.
