[It's probably something Conan is used to by now. A store, that seems as though it's always been there, everyone acts as though it's always been there, though it's never been brought up before.
Kakimoto Children's Books is simply in a small, out-of-the-way street in Beika now, and of course, the Detective Boys love it. The inside of the store is painted with bright colors and lined with books. Anything from picture books, to young adult, to collections of fairy tales and fables. There's bookshelves, of course, but there's also an area painted with blue skies and green hills and a green carpet, with comfy bean bag chairs for the children to sit on. There's also chairs lined up in a circle for the kids to read to each other, currently occupied by one child reading to his dog. There's also a couple of small tables with kids to have drinks and snacks at.
Needless to say, the Detective Boys have been spending a lot of time there, especially in those bean bag chairs.
And, of course, eventually, a body was discovered nearby. Given that Kotoha was the only person around at the time, the police came for her as a suspect... And, of course, Conan gets to work.
And yet, despite having the police think of her as a murderer, she seems... completely calm. Whenever someone asks her questions, she declines to answer. Whenever Conan tries to get the truth out of her, she evades the question.
But eventually, Conan does discover the truth- The true culprit had used Kotoha as a scapegoat, setting up an automatic trick to throw the poison bottle from the apartment to in front of Kotoha's store, where notoriously tidy Kotoha would sweep it up without thinking much of it. And Conan, of course, pulls the bottle from the garbage, with the fingerprints of the culprit on it.
Satisfied, Megure and Takagi leave, the true culprit arrested. Leaving, at around 9 PM, Conan and Kotoha alone inside Kakimoto Children's Books.
She gives him a warm, friendly smile, like she hadn't just tried to sabotage him so she would go to jail for a murder she hadn't committed.]
Incredible! You really are a detective... Would you like some juice?
[To be honest, going to a bookstore with the rest of the Detective Boys in tow isn't a bad change of pace. Because in spite of himself, he has a tendency to get really excitable over some of the mystery novels - meant for kids or otherwise. After all, they're still things that he's allowed to solve, even if some might be rather straightforward, or even simple.
But then there are the juicy ones: books that Conan can actually gnaw his teeth into because the writer is actually not underestimating a child's knowledge.
However, there's just a problem here. Wherever he goes, almost like the Reaper, death follows.
A case he has to solve. It's one that he finds himself solving with a bit of difficulty, due to one person not answering his questions, but he's dealt with worse. And at the very least, nothing absolutely awful has happened to him yet, so he can just consider this case closed and move on with his life. That is, until he's properly addressed by one of the suspects.
The one that had caused him some issue, really... it's no wonder why the police found themselves frustrated. But instead of answering with a clipped, potentially sarcastic answer like he's certainly thinking, Conan mirrors the smile, absolutely practiced and cheerful.]
They don't call me one of the Detective Boys for nothing! Although to be honest, I learned a lot from Shinichi nii-chan...
[He laughs a little awkwardly, as if that admission was honestly a little embarrassing.]
But, um... if it's okay with you? It's getting pretty late, though, so I should be heading home soon. Ran nee-chan and Kogoro oji-san might get mad at me for missing out on dinner...
[He's trying to make desperate excuses to leave, although he can't say that he's really lying, honestly.
Ran is especially scary when she gets mad.
And he certainly doesn't want to make her upset, either. Plus, her cooking is always something that he thoroughly enjoys coming back to.]
[While he can take hints as to noticing the suspicion in her eyes, Conan's own expression doesn't shift in the slightest, only swinging his arms behind him.]
And why not? I can come back another day, can't I? I'm sure the others will want to find more of the Kamen Yaiba books, at least...
Though I'm no detective like you, I hope you'll listen to my deductions, too.
[Kotoha, slowly shifts her weight.]
If my deductions hold true... Once you solve a case, you very rarely come into contact with those who were involved again, save for those whom you were already in contact with before the case. Am I mistaken?
[She looks around, a bit sheepishly, before realizing.]
Oh, right... In the detective genre, one must explain their reasoning first, and then the conclusion... I got it backwards. I've never been good with this genre...

[She pauses, looking him over.
Her kind smile doesn't fade, yet something in her eyes is a bit more... suspicious. Like she's looking at Shinichi, not Conan.]
I don't mind, but... If you leave now, I think it's likely we'll never see each other again.

Not because they're true, but rather-]
Onee-san.
That's not a deduction at all. At that point... you're making assumptions about my life without any evidence.
[There's a hint of 'isn't that a little creepy?' in his voice, but he doesn't say those words aloud.]
