[Atalante, Archer, has been summoned to Chaldea. But, well... She's a pretty weak Servant, as they go. Which means she's not as busy as some of the others.

She can be found stalking the halls of Chaldea, returning to her room after a day of training in the simulation room, bow at her side.

She also tends to help find supplies for Chaldea, walking out of the Rayshift room, dragging several boar corpses behind her... It's making something of a mess, but if you kill animals for your food, you should probably expect them to be a bit bloody?

Alternately, you might just find her in Chaldea's cafeteria, sitting at a table with her face in her hands. Why does she look so distressed? Artemis and Orion being a few tables away probably has something to do with it.

Alternately alternately! Maybe you're not a fate/ at all. Maybe you're just a random person living your life. Unfortunately, there's a girl with cat ears, a tail, and a giant fuckin bow suddenly shooting an arrow right past your face. ... It hits a monster, at least, but. Hey, safety regulations?]

[It might be ironic that she, an Assassin, was angry that someone had the gall of doing the things she inflicted on others. Not just during that war or back during her life. That made her turn to face Atalante fully.]

She joined the Holy Grail War. She knew the risks.

[There's a few things Jack didn't remember but there was one thing she did.]

She wasn't a mage.

[If they played along with the Black faction they would have been seperated or worse.]

We picked her. Someone else did the summoning.

[Which means this was Jack's fault.]

Did you tell her about the War?

[god, she's desperate to hold on, to not break down, but even now, memories of Jack's curse are strong...]

[She flinches slightly at the question.]

Then she knew what she risked.

Had she not wished to be a part of the Holy Grail War, she could have taken you and fled to another country. One where there were no other Servants. But she aimed for the Holy Grail. And she chose to sacrifice herself for you out of her love for you.

[She died happy. Jack knew that. She used her command seals to give Jack a chance for the Holy Grail. She doesn't remember her Master's wish but maybe that doesn't matter.

They could have ran, hid, and waited for the Servants to kill each other off before claiming the Grail as the last ones standing. That would have been the smart thing to do.

She glares up at the Archer.]

You still killed our Mother!

[It's hard. She wants to run away. She wants to break down. Some part of her, some nasty, ugly part deep down, wants to use her Noble Phantasm, the boar's pelt, and become a monster again, just so she doesn't have to think more about this.

But she can't avoid it. This is her punishment.]

I did.

[She could sense that Atalante was about to break. Maybe she should back off. That was the past, after all. But to a child even one that never really was a child the loss of someone who was so warm still was present.]

Then why does it matter if she knew that she was going to die or not?

[She can feel her spirit hitting the breaking point. She's been to London. She's helped exorcise Jack. She thought she put it behind her, but...]

[Jack has killed a few of the Jacks in the London herself, too. Though, for very different reasons. It just comes with the territory of being a person made of many different people, after all.]

Jack stands up and sits on the boar.]

[She could just leave it there. She clearly won. It's a small victory but... well. She could and probably should leave it there with her prize.

But she can't. Teasing emotional wounds are almost as fun as stabbing.]

... I am no cook. To cook meat on a spit or to take nature's bounty is all I can do.

[Agh, how is she supposed to take advantage of that?]

Perhaps you should learn to hunt beasts yourself. It's better than harming humans.

Wouldn't we just hurt the meat if we treat them like we do humans?

That is why you would learn not to.
