GUNDAM BUILD VALOR

In the far-flung future (after Gundam Vendetta ends), I will be running a game based on Gundam Build Fighters!
Gundam Build Fighters takes Gundam, but is more a sports anime built around hobbies. Rather than Gundams, people build Gunpla, and using magic particles, animate those Gunpla and make them fight! People pour their love for the hobby, and the franchise, using all their skills to make the greatest Mobile Suits imaginable, limited only by their imagination!
This will be in Valor classic, assuming Emily does release all her monster builds so I can use them so I don't have to build my own monsters!
The setting is, of course, the near future. Gunpla technology has advanced, allowing Gunpla to move and battle. Gundam is a fictional setting but people love it, and the Gunpla boom has taken over the world. Everything in the world revolves around Gunpla, but in that sports anime kind of way.
There are two potential plotlines I have in mind. First, the player characters are a school Gunpla club. The second, the players will form a Gunpla battle team for tournaments as adults.

Apr. 6th, 2022 06:10 pmnightwild[Fauna is a villainous general who recently reformed and became a hero, transforming into the armored figure Night Wild in order to combat the monsters of the Circle of Salvation, a cult whose goddess gives power and causes great destruction around the city.
Of course, Fauna has very little in her life outside of that. She's got a strong sense of justice, but still has to survive, and she has no way to do that legally in this world.
A: At a store.
If you're at a department or secondhand store, you might spot Fauna hanging around the racks of the cheapest clothing there, as she browses... and then discreetly picks an item or two and stuffs them into the pouch she wears at her side. It's easy to hide from the store staff, of course, but she's going to hurriedly move on. You might also find her just punching a vending machine to get some instant food or snacks without paying.
B: In the city.
If you're just hanging out outside in the evening, you might be minding your own business in the streets or the parks or what have you... until a large monster, green and muscular like an ogre, bears down on you, swinging a chunk of steel that was probably a streetlight a bit ago like a club.
Fortunately, before long, an armored figure in all red and black shows up, and kicks the monster back.
Perhaps less good, if you've been watching the news, this armored figure definitely used to help the monsters. Yet they're checking on you now?]

The Earth has been conquered by the wicked governance of the TOP, the Total Obliteration Party! The cruel Dark President D.V.L. rules with an iron first, subjugating the world mercilessly, bringing fear and suffering the world over! There is no hope nor freedom on Earth, as long as D.V.L. reigns!
But not all is lost! Resistance, a resistance movement, has chosen to fight back! And those who will fight, those who are brave enough to stand up to protect the world and all who live there, regardless of their own safety, are chosen by the Earth! Granted a Brave Beast Soul and Brave Bracer, these five souls of dauntless courage become the Brave Beast Soul Squadron, Valoranger!
Valorangers! You will travel the world, defeating the local rulers and extensions of D.V.L.'s will, the Governasts, and free the people! You will fight your way through the Wicked Cabinet, and one day, you will free the Earth from the Dark President's clutches!
VALORANGER is a tabletop campaign run in, obviously, Valor. The characters will take on the role of a sentai team, freeing the world from the clutches of evil. You will be empowered by the powers of various animals, granted powers based on the animal that chose you, and transform to fight.
The game will be kept as close to Super Sentai in tone as possible, so please keep that in mind when you're making characters.
NOTE: The Red Ranger, in accordance with Sentai traditions, will have a little bit of extra plot attached- Red will be a rookie who is not yet a member of Resistance at the first session. Beyond that, just follow your heart in making your character.

VALR is a game set on Remnant, very similar to the show. Grimm exist and attack, Huntresses fight them, empowered by Dust. In this Remnant, though, the countries are Verse, Stanze, Octavias, and Canto. Our heroes are centered in Lantern Academy. The Grimm are big, just as deadly, and occasionally immortal or made of humans. And the fate of the world is controlled by a small black book.
But, more importantly, we're a bunch of stupid teenagers, mostly. Whether or not you're from another universe ported over, or an AU, or there's a mutual jamjar game going on, post your toplevel here and thread with each other. Team up with Huntresses from another universe to take out the biggest, nastiest Grimm, or just gossip about who's dating who.]

The year is 202X. The school is located in a magical nook of Indiana, hidden away from prying eyes. Three years ago, a devastating earthquake rocked the area, sinking much of the school into a sinkhole, and reconstruction took time, but at last, the school has been rebuilt, and is reopening, taking a new class of first-year students. This is the fourth magic school in the U.S, due to the sheer small number of magicians.
But let’s talk about magic. What it is, how it works. Magic has been around since the dawn of human history, but how did it remain hidden, as a mystery? Magic culture preaches that magic is a tool for helping others- Magic exists for the sake of bringing happiness to people. Therefore, the idea of combat magic is… well, completely alien. Anathema. You can use magic to cut some tape, but using that same magic on a person is absolutely horrific.
Magic exists in secrecy for several reasons. First, the above. Magic is never used to hurt people. Magicians try to avoid calling attention to themselves, as this is what is preached by their culture. Second, magic is rare. There was an old legend where magic can only be used by ‘the seventh son of a seventh son’, and that’s not actually true, but it is about the right rarity- Maybe one in a million people can use magic. (However, with the growth of the population on Earth lately, many magicians are discussing the ideas of letting magic become public.)
Shortly after the school year begins, strange horrors will attack, attempting to abduct the children for reasons unknown. It is then our teachers will begin to develop the use of combat magic, for real, to fight off those horrors and protect their children. Magic exists for the sake of bringing happiness… And so for protecting children.
SO, THE RULES:
Your characters are teachers! They can be new teachers just now getting their first job, or have been teaching before the earthquake happened. Either way, the teachers are the heroes this time.
The tone is intended to be lighter. Yes, we’re dealing with eldritch horrors abducting children, but please avoid going like grimdark. Harry Potter’s first book is a good aim of the whimsy and tone. The worldbuilding may not be airtight but it doesn’t have to be.
No one knows about combat magic, much, at all! There are some wizarding sports similar to MMA, but the showboating is more important there, and there are a billion safety precautions. Generally, magic to defend yourself from a wild bear would be to make it ignore you or making a shield rather than actually harming or killing it. Thus, your characters will be starting at level 1, because they’re figuring out how to fight with magic from the ground up.
Each character will be given 4 extra SP at character creation for the purpose of taking two Proficiency or Asset skills, related to the topic your character is teaching. You won’t be an ace in combat, but at least, you’ll still definitely be an expert in your field.
SCHEDULING:
The game has two possible timeslots! Wednesdays at 5-8, and Thursdays at 4-7. Those are the only options I have, sadly. Times are PST!

Except, there's a sword on her back, she's trying to keep it hidden under the hoodie. It's... not terribly discreet, probably. But regardless, she's trying to keep a low profile and not get involved in any supernatural, magical bullshit.
What supernatural, magical bullshit are you going to drag her into?]
B: FIGHT SCENE
[Well, it was nice hiding while she could. She's surrounded in an open courtyard, men in armor on all sides. She herself is in her full armor, letting her red hair fly freely, as she has her sword in hand- A beautiful sword, silver and white, as though a fragment of moonlight was given form. And then, she shifts her grip, and the blade erupts into golden fire, like sunlight, scattering feather-like embers around it.
She lifts her sword high, proclaiming loudly:]
The Knight of Rebirth, Crystal of Whitehilt, has arrived. If any of you are brave enough to be burned, step forward!
[And then, immediately lowering her stance, taking a clumsy guard. She's... She's very, very clearly an amateur at this.]
Then again, I know you guys are cowards. Seriously, I've been at this for like a month and you've sent ten guys at once to take me? What happened to honor?
[... She, uh, may need help. She's running her mouth more than her sword because judging from her stance, she can probably do more damage with her mouth.]
